Who is SSE?

SSE, formerly known as Scottish and Southern Energy, is one of the largest energy companies in the United Kingdom. Established in 1998 through the merger of Scottish Hydro Electric and Southern Electric, SSE has since grown into a major player in the business energy sector, providing electricity and gas to millions of commercial customers across the UK and Ireland.

SSE's focus on business energy extends beyond supply to encompass energy management services and solutions designed to help businesses optimise their energy usage and reduce costs. From energy audits and efficiency recommendations to smart metering and renewable energy integration, SSE provides comprehensive support to businesses seeking to enhance their energy performance and environmental credentials.

How to cancel SSE Business Energy

As is protocol for all business energy contracts, there is no cooling-off period. This means that when you sign up for one of SSE’s fixed rate plans, you’re locked in for the duration of the contract.

If you want to cancel your plan before the end of your contract, there will likely be a charge involved. Refer to the terms and conditions of your business energy deal and get in touch with SSE for further information.

60 days before the end of your contract, SSE will be in touch to provide you with several renewal options. If none of them suit, you must give 30 days or more of notice that you are switching supplier.

Provide meter readings to your new supplier in advance of signing with them. They will pass these on to SSE, who will use them to calculate your final bill.

If your business comes to the end of a fixed term contract, and you have not made arrangements to terminate, switch supplier, or renew your contract, you will move onto SSE’s Variable Business Rates.
