Who is Octopus Energy?

Octopus Energy, a subsidiary of the Octopus Group, is one of the UK’s biggest energy suppliers and a pioneering force in the provision of green energy. The most awarded energy supplier in the nation, Octopus Energy, is renowned for their competitive pricing, lack of red tape, and enduring commitment to sustainability.

Founded in 2015 by Greg Jackson, Octopus Energy quickly gained traction in the energy market by offering competitive tariffs and technological innovations to enhance customer experience.

Over the last decade, Octopus has acquired various smaller competitors to boost its market share, most recently its early rival Bulb Energy after its collapse into administration. Octopus also provides gas and energy for several other brands including Affect Energy, Co-operative Energy, Ebico, M&S Energy, Qwest Energy, and Roar Power.

Octopus Energy has also made significant strides in the business energy sector. Catering to the energy needs of small, medium, and large enterprises, Octopus Energy Business provides tailored solutions to help businesses manage their energy consumption effectively.

How to cancel Octopus Business Energy

Like all other business energy contracts, there is no cooling-off period.

This means that when you’ve signed up for a business energy fixed-term contract, you are obligated to fulfil the entire length of the deal.

If you want to leave before the end of your deal, you will have to pay an exit fee. Octopus Energy’s exit fees are calculated as a percentage of your remaining contract value. To ensure Octopus can forecast this accurately, businesses are encouraged to submit regular monthly meter readings (if they don’t have smart meters, which will send meter readings automatically.)

If your contract has entered its last 60 days, Octopus Business Energy will reach out to provide you with renewal options. If none of these options suit your needs, you can give notice to leave.
