Who is Engie?
Engie is a multinational energy company with a significant presence in the UK, offering a wide range of energy services and solutions.
With a history dating back to the 19th century, Engie was named as such in 2015 when GDF Suez decided it required a rebrand to better meet the challenges ahead in acquiring international market share. Around the same time, Engie altered its strategy, aiming to reduce its long-term reliance on fossil fuels and investing €22bn in renewable energies and decentralised heating technology.
In the UK, Engie operates across various sectors, including energy generation, distribution, and services, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
The company is actively involved in renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and biomass, as part of its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy sources. Projects include the £475 million Midland Metropolitan Hospital Project in the West Midlands and the Runcorn Regeneration Scheme.
